We are a recreational running club, with common interests in leading a fit and active lifestyle. We compete, but we don't enter expecting to win. We're more interested in achieving personal goals and having fun doing it. We provide a safe, supportive group with which to train.
We meet at 5:55pm on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, year round, sun, rain or snow. We meet in the Tyee Hall at the False Creek Community Centre, on Granville Island, in Vancouver. The community centre has changing rooms with lockers, showers and saunas. There is free parking close to the community centre.
Running is the one common activity that brings us together. But, as fit active people, we also seriously enjoy eating, drinking and other activities. Here are some of our regular social events:
- Dinner out on the first Tuesday of every month (after our run, of course).
- An awesome Christmas Party.
- A cross country ski weekend at Manning Park in February or March.
- A summer ice cream run.
After most Tuesday and Thursday runs a group can usually be found socializing, often at Cats Socialhouse next door to the community centre.
There's nothing like a relay race to build club spirit. PRR has entered teams in the following relay races:
- Hood to Coast relay in Oregon
- Edge 2 Edge relay from Tofino to Ucluelet on Vancouver Island
- Stormy 50 mile relay in Squamish
- Haney to Harrison (H2H) relay in the Fraser Valley
PRR members have also travelled together to run the following races:
- Okanagan International Marathon
- Royal Victoria Marathon
- Birch Bay Road Race
- Portland Marathon
- Seattle Marathon
- Marathon du Médoc
